Mr. Jonnie L. Miller, a resident of North Elmer Street, South Bend, Indiana, departed from this life at 10:15 a.m., Monday, November 13, 2017, at the West Bend Nursing Facility at the age of 70 years.

 

Jonnie’s life began on May 11, 1947 in Steek, Missouri when he was born to the union of West and Ida Mae (Ross) Miller.  He was reared in Missouri where he attended High School.  He relocated to South Bend, Indiana and attended ITT Technical Engineering School.

 

He and Almeter Ross were united in marriage.

 

Mr. Miller had been employed by Clark Equipment Company for 15 years and retired in 1999 from The South Bend Tribune.

 

Family members who mourn his loss include his wife, Almeter; three daughters, Doris Winfield and Patricia Miller, both of Atlanta, Georgia, and Nicky Riles of Houston, Texas; three sons, Marvin (Nicole) Riles of South Bend, Indiana, and Timothy Bell and Christopher Williams, Geneva, Ohio; 26 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Sanchez; and two sisters-in-law, Essie Miller and Adrene Eskridge, all of South Bend, Indiana.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, West and Ida Mae Miller; a daughter, Orlene Riles; a son, Jerry Williams; one sister, Ida Mae Amous; and two brothers, Reverend Albert Miller and Arnist Miller.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Jonnie Miller will be held Friday, November 17, 2017 at Pentecostal Cathedral Church at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Indiana.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., at Alford’s Mortuary where arrangements have been entrusted.

I have fond memories working with Jonnie at the South Bend Tribune.
He was a great guy and will be dearly missed.

We both worked with Jonnie at the Tribune and always found him to be helpful and kind. He will be missed by many. Our prayers go out to the family.
