Mr. Alvin Blade, Sr., passed away at 9:20 a.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Trail point Village. He was 69 years of age. Alvin was born in Marianna, Arkansas on February 6, 1949 to Thomas and Margaret (Wilks) Blade. He attended Anna Strong School in Arkansas. In the late 1960’s he moved to Chicago where he married Willie Mae Jones on August 30, 1974 and in 2007 relocated to South Bend. He was employed at Alpha Bakery as a baker for over 40 years, retiring in 2003. Mr. Blade was also a member of St. Paul Bethel Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee and a Choir Member where he loved to sing, and drove the church van. His hobbies included fishing, cooking, gambling, singing, being with family while making them laugh and telling jokes. He also liked alley bumming. Family members who survive to cherish his memory include his wife, Willie Mae Blade; two daughters, Aleshia Blade of Corinth, Texas and Lebora Cox of Chicago, Illinois; two sons, Terrell Jones of South Bend, Indiana and James (Sabrina) Jones of Chicago, Illinois; 26 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn (George) Cross of Detroit, MI, Ruth (Casey) Turner and Eveleaner Allen, both of Little Rock, AR, Barbara Ann (Les) Brawley and Mary (Harold) Guy, both of Grand Rapids, MI, and Lovie (David) Coleman of Arlington, TX.; brothers, Bobbie (Kevi) Blade and Michael Blade, both of Kansas, Robert Blade and Terry (Delaina) Blade, both of Dallas, TX., and Carl (Sandra) Blade of Little Rock, AR; good friends, Freeman Smith, Fred Johnson and Andre Banks, all of South Bend, along with other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death along with his parents, Thomas and Margaret Blade; a son, Alvin Blade Jr., in 2003; two sisters, Annie Southall and Pearl Goodwin; and four brothers, Thomas Blade, Roland Blade, James Blade and Vernon Blade.
