Brenda L. Harris

Mrs. Brenda L. Harris, 60, of South Bend, IN, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Beacon Memorial Hospital. She was born in South Bend on August 16,  in 1957 to the union of Wiley, II and Rosie D. (Jackson) Turner. Wiley preceded her in death on April 11, 1994.  
Brenda was educated in the South Bend community schools and attended LaSalle High School. She was a member of Greater Saint John M.B. Church. On April 21, 1979 she was united in marriage to Terry Harris, Sr., who survives. Brenda's employment history includes the South Bend Tribune, the Post Office, and the South Bend Community School Corporation. She worked for the school corporation until her illness no longer permitted.
Brenda leaves to cherish her memory her mother and husband; two sons, Damon Williams, Sr., and Terry Harris, Jr.; two grandchildren, Damon "Chief" and Dominaea Williams; two great grandchildren DeShawn and Faith Williams; two sisters, Mary Rose (Ronald) Pope, all of South Bend; Pamela Turner of Long Beach, CA, one brother, Wiley Turner, III, of South Bend; one niece Kia (Eric) Metoyer of Long Beach; one nephew Virgil Hatcher of South Bend; 2 aunts, Bonnie (Patrick) Brown of Long Beach, and Rebecca Jones of Belzoni, MS; along with many other relatives and friends. 
She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Joe and Beatrice Jackson and paternal grandparents Wiley Turner, I and Mary Turner Hinton. 
Brenda's favorite past time was spending time with her family, especially her mother, sisters and grandchildren. She also loved traveling, playing Bingo and going shopping.
A viewing will be held at Alford's Mortuary on Monday, January 15 from 1-3 PM. Funeral services will be held at the Mortuary on Tuesday at 1:00 PM; friends may call two hours prior. Alford's Mortuary is located at 1122 Napier St., South Bend.
