Edward Lavalle McCurry "Maine", 35, of South Bend Indiana, earned his angel wings early Saturday morning, September 21, 2019. Maine was born to Edward Lee Rankin and Elizabeth Ann McCurry on June 17, 1984 in Chicago Illinois. He was the second oldest of 10 siblings.
Maine attended Betsy Ross Elementary followed by Englewood High School in Chicago, Illinois. Maine was nurtured by Ora Lee Howard (Granny, who is now deceased). Granny took him into her home in the time of need and he always thanked her for that. He was an incredibly loving man, and all he ever wanted was for his family to be straight and to stick together no matter what.
Maine was reserved and didn’t let many people know his next move. He enjoyed dressing nice, making music, collecting shoes, and having long deep conversations with his family. Although he worked at Cheddars Restaurant presently, he was also a motivator and comedian at the same time; he just knew how to make people laugh.
He was a loving father of two and the best brother anyone could hope for. He was an awesome uncle, cousin to many whom looked to him as a brother, and he was a true friend.
Maine leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Elizabeth Mccurry; his father, Edward Rankin; his wife, Faneice Douglas; 4 Brothers: Brian, Robert, Lonzal, and Thadiaus; 4 Sisters: Mia, Mary, Amber, and Kya; 2 children of his own: Valerie, and Caleb; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles, cousins that were brothers and sisters in his heart, and friends.
Though your smile is gone forever, And your hand we cannot touch;
Still we have so many memories, Of the one we loved so much.
Your memory is our keepsake, With which we’ll never part;
God has you in His keeping, We have you in our hearts.
