George R. Chism Jr.

Robert “Chis” Chism Jr., son of the late George Robert Chism Sr. and Annie Mae Williams-Chism, was born November 11, 1949 in South Bend, Indiana. He attended the public schools of South Bend, Indiana and was a graduate of John Adams High School.

Soon after he would serve in the United States Army. At an  early age he was introduced to the Lord and loved Him deeply. In 1968 he was united in holy matrimony to Judy McLein. This union was blessed with two children. In 1978 he met Renee Weatherman and in 1979 they were united in holy matrimony and remained married to for 40 years. His last significant relationship was with Christy Cutler. She lovingly provided, medical and emotional support and the family is thankful.

Chis was an over the road truck driver which suited his appreciation for travel. He loved to see new things and new places and never forgot one place he visited. He especially enjoyed scenic routes of this country. 

He quietly departed this life Sunday September 15, 2019 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. Indiana.  He  was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Mae Williams-Chism; father, George Robert Chism Sr.; sisters: Georgia Fields, Annette Dungey; and daughter-in-law, Margarette Chism.

His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his wife, Renee Chism of Berrien Springs, Michigan;  two children: Minister Dana Chism and Deacon Derrick Chism, both of Long Beach, California; three sisters: Mother Sallie Baker of Garden Grove, California, Betty Jean Washington of South Bend, Indiana, Kim Mcelvene of South Bend, Indiana; two brothers: Melvin Chism of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Peter (Courtney) Chism of South Bend, Indiana; along with a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
