George O'Neal Jr.

Mr. George O`Neal Jr., who resided in South Bend, Indiana departed this life on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at the blessed age of 92 years.

                He was born to the union of George and Mary (Saddlefield) O`Neal Sr., on February 2, 1925 in Memphis, Tennessee.  George was united in holy matrimony to Ruth Owens on August 16, 1942.  They began their union in Chicago, Illinois and had two sons.  Several years later they relocated to South Bend, Indiana.

                George began his career in South Bend for Studebaker Corporation, working for over ten years.  He then was employed by Kimble Industrial, retiring after 40 plus years of service.

                George leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of over 75 years, Ruth O`Neal; granddaughter, Tracy (TiJuan) O`Neal – Moody; great-grandchildren, Ty, Trevor, Tyra, and daughter-in-law, Joan O`Neal, all of South Bend, Indiana; granddaughter, Kimberly O`Neal – Roldan; great-granddaughter, Lindsey; and daughter-in-law, Janice O`Neal, all of San Diego, California; two great-great-granddaughters; a special cousin in his life, Floyd “Billy” O`Neal of Chicago, Illinois, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

                George was preceded in death by both of his loving sons, Richard and Michael O`Neal; and all six brothers: Andrew, Toy, Willie Melvin, James, Willie Earl, and Frank.

                George was truly loved and will be greatly missed.

                Funeral services for Mr. George O`Neal will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017 at Alford’s Mortuary at 12:00 noon.  Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery with no Re-Pass. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon. 

                The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Trail Village Nursing Home for the years of love and care they always gave George.  “You all are truly a special group of ladies.”
