George Reese Obituary


SOUTH BEND - George F. Reese, 71, of Bonds Ave., South Bend, IN, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018. 

George was born in Cassopolis, MI, on August 12, 1946 to George and Merna (Steen) Reese, both of whom preceded him in death along with a daughter, Dana Lewis and his wife, Beatrice Suggs.

George worked in Sales & Service 18 years for Pitney Bowles. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army after serving his country. He obtained the Vietnam service medal and the expert rifle medal. He was the commander of the Post #66 and the 1st district commander for the state of Indiana. He was a VFWmember and member of the Senior Men's Club, American Legion, Special Olympics, and the Homeless Veterans Club.

Survivors left to cherish his memory include four sons, Dewey, Martell, Major, and Tyrone; 14 grandchildren; three sisters, Joyce Z. Simm of Fresno, CA, Eunice M. Starr of Trotwood, OH, and Charlotte (Samuel) Brumfield of South Bend, IN; one brother, Daniel M. (Brenda) Reese of Elkhart, IN; stepchildren, Mary Ann Suggs of Elkhart, IN, Dennis W. Forbes, Jr., Shirley Forbes, and Surbrina all of MS, along with a host of other relatives and special friends. 

Viewing will be at 11:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Chain Lake Baptist Church in Cassopolis, MI, with services beginning at 12:00 noon.
