Harry Simpson III

September 5, 1962 ~ July 8, 2018 (age 55)

Elder Harry Marcus Simpson III, a resident of South Bend, Indiana, departed from this life on Sunday, July 8, 2018.   He had also resided in Chicago, Illinois and Benton Harbor, Michigan.

He was born in South Bend, Indiana on September 5, 1962 to Harry Simpson II Gloria Frazier.  He graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1982; Lake Michigan College in 1984; DeVry Institute of Technology in 1988; and C.H. Mason Bible Institute in 2005, where he was awarded Valor Victorian. 

He was married to his wife of 28 years, Demetria. 

Harry was employed by Bendix, Bosch and Honeywell, KBR, both of South Bend as an Electronic Technician.  He was an Elder of Saints Memorial Church of God in Christ where he served on the Young Men’s Christian Council and also District President of the R.O. Hatchett District.

His activities included artistry, handing out literature to educate people; an electronic technology lover; attending his son’s sporting events, i.e., basketball, baseball and football; visiting the sick and shut-in; and home Bible study in his last years.  His hobbies were sports; interest activities; collecting classic car models; Chinese weaponry; and collecting Star Wars memorabilia.  He will be remembered for his humor and compassionate commitment about his roles in his life.

Elder Simpson is survived by his wife, Demetria Simpson; children, Harry Marcus Simpson IV, Darious Keith Simpson and David Joel Simpson, all of South Bend, IN; his mother, Gloria (Charles) Douglas of Eau Claire, MI; siblings, Mitchell Thompson, Charles Douglas Jr., Jason (Jacquetta) Douglas and Armon (Desire) Douglas, all of South Bend, IN, Gail Douglas and Linda (Wayne) Morrison, both of Indianapolis, IN, Betty Simpson and Harry Earl Simpson, both of Benton Harbor, MI and Steve Simpson of Eau Claire, MI; special relatives, Ellis Bethea III, Benton Harbor, MI, Michella (Samontay) Jones, Berrien Springs, MI, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; other friends, Michael Joiner, Dave Sousley, Johnnie Moore, Patrick Patterson, Rick Poestra  and Tony Lowe.

Services for Elder Harry Marcus Simpson will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., at Saint Memorial Church of God in Christ, 321 S. Liberty St. South Bend.   Friends may call at the church at 10:00 a.m.
