Hattie M. Jones

Hattie Mae (Bates) Jones, 74, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Briarcliff Health & Rehabilitation Center, South Bend, IN.
  Hattie was born in Brownsville, TN., on July 28, 1944 to Harry Bates, Sr., and Hattie Lena (Payton) Williams who both preceded her in death along with three sisters; Mamie, Georgia and Mattie Lee Bates, one brother; Charles T. Bates and a niece; Fannie Bates.
  Hattie was a member of Lake Chapel Primitive Baptist Church.
  Survivors left to cherish her memory include three daughters; Cathy J. (Peter) Love, Phyllis K. Bates and Michelle R. Tyus, two sons; Edgar Lamar (Brandi) Bates and Nathaniel Beverly, 11 grandchildren; Maurice Scott, Martel Scott, Trevor Derrickson, Jayden Anderson, Pierre Broadway, Kashmir Broadway, Dearius Tyus, Edgar LaShay, LaShonda Bates and Nayesha Page, seven great grandchildren, two sisters; Alice Crumbley and Monella Shaw all of South Bend, IN., four brothers; Harry (Chance) Bates of Elkhart, IN., Ernie (Edwina) Payton of Indianapolis, IN., Rev. Jesse Lee Bates and Earl Bates both of Decatur, IL., along with a host of other relatives and friends.
  Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Lake Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, 202 So. Lake St., South Bend, IN., with viewing from 11:00 a.m., to noon at the church.
