Mr. James Thomas Sanders Jr. was born on October 21, 1950 in Tipton Georgia to the union of Charlie Mae (Corbitt) Sanders and James Thomas Sanders Sr.

James later moved to South Bend, IN where he resided. James attended Studebaker and Oliver Grade School he later graduated from James Whitcomb Riley High School where he received his High School Diploma. He attended Broadway Christian Perish, where he volunteered and helped the community.

Sargent James Thomas Sanders Jr. was on active duty as Executive Chef for the US Army from 1975-1977 in Honduras and Fort Benning, GA earning three metals; National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter (M-16) and Good Conduct Medal (1st Award).

James hobbies were drawing, reading, cooking, teaching and walking the neighborhood of the South-East side of town. He enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews by instilling in them militant values and togetherness.

Mr. James Thomas Sanders Jr. earned his wings on Friday July 21, 2017 in his home. He leaves to cherish his memory, his son Eric Fisher, who he called Erik with a “K” because he was king; his brother Jerome (Sally) Sanders of Fort Wayne, Indiana; his sisters: Helen R. Sanders of Arlington, Tennessee, Unita Sanders, Jacqueline (Timothy) Ottbridge, Angela D. Henderson, Rena A. Donaldson; two uncles, Willie (Rosetta) Corbitt and Alton Sanders all of South Bend. Uncle James also leaves to cherish his memory, a host of nieces/nephews, great nieces/nephews and cousins.

James is proceeded in death by his father, James Thomas Sanders Sr.; his mother, Charlie Mae (Corbitt) Sanders; stepfather, Roy E. Donaldson; his sister; Sheila A. Donaldson; brothers: Gregory Alan Sanders, William E. Sanders, Bennie C. (Dorris) Sanders, Rev. Thomas L. Henderson Jr. and a host of aunts and uncles.
