Jeanette Anderson

SOUTH BEND - Mrs. Jeanette Anderson passed away at the age of 85 on Thursday, March, 15, 2018 in Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN surrounded by her loving family. 

On May 23, 1932, in Centerville, Tennessee, Jeanette was born to Sam and Henrietta Dansby. 

She graduated from O.H. Bernard High School in 1951. Jeanette enjoyed playing spades, going out to eat, going to the casino, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Jeanette was a people watcher; she loved sitting at the mall just watching the people walking around in the mall. She moved to South Bend, IN the same year she graduated from high school 1951. She gave herself to Christ at an early age. She attended Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church for more than 60 years, where she served on the Usher Board until her health started to decline. She was known to all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as “Mom”. 

Loved ones who survive to mourn her loss include two daughters, Belinda “Sweetthang” (T.J.) Larry of South Bend, IN and Regina “Pudd” (Ralph) McKinney of Kansas City, Missouri; four sons, Lloyd “Sweetabae” (Cynthia) Anderson of Indianapolis, IN, Joseph (Crystal) Dansby of South Bend, IN, James Dansby of White Plans, Maryland, and stepson, Johnny (Lois) Porter of Indianapolis, IN; grandkids, Shawntae “Feet” (Nell) Aikens, Orneisha “Pookie” (Cortney) Diggins, Jeanette Aikens “Toot”, Marcus Anderson, Darnell Booker, Ashley Nicole Anderson ( Big Ashley) Shinika Haynes, Precious Haynes, Latoya Anderson, Ashley Nicole Anderson (Little Ashley), Austin Dansby, Miles Anderson, Tia Dansby, and Raven Fleming; 26 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; special friend, Jim Higgs; life-long friends, Faye Gadson and Tina Vaughn; daughters in love, Nancy Anderson & Sandra Anderson, along with many nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt Jeanette, and a host of other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Anderson; daughter, Gwendolyn Anderson; son, Todd Anderson; parents, Sam and Henrietta Dansby; stepmother, Georgie Dansby; sister, Juanita Faye Kimbrough; brothers, Sam L., Carl, Will, John, and Robert Dansby; and great-granddaughter, Taylor Nicole Anderson.

Services will be held at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., with viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
