Joyce A. Herron

Joyce Ann Herron was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who departed this life to be with the Lord after an illness.  Joyce was born March 30, 1953 to the union of the late James and Lavern Herron.

Joyce accepted her call to service with the Lord at a young age and was a member of Mount Zion Cathedral of Praise, Buchanan Michigan, where she served as a dedicated missionary for many years.

Joyce graduated from Riley high school, attended IUSB and worked at Memorial Hospital many years. Joyce enjoyed cooking, baking and crocheting. She would get many, many request for her delicious peach cobbler, her award winning sweet potato pie and tasty lasagna.

Joyce leaves to cherish her memory one son, DéVon McNair; two daughters: TáShauna (Anthony) Martin and Mo’Nique Herron. Joyce has 18 grandchildren she loved dearly; and a stepmother, Pat Herron, all of South Bend, Indiana. Joyce also has eight brothers: Duane, James Jr. (Lisa), Steve, Michael, Joseph, Raymond, Shannon Herron, all of South Bend, and Charles Thomas of Miami, Florida;  six sisters: Lois Thomas of Scottsdale, Arizona, Regina (Archie) Morrell, Sandra (David) Harper, Tasha (Marcus) Carrell, Nicole and LaShayla Herron, all of South Bend; with a host of nieces, nephew, godchildren, many family members; and lifelong friend Betty Sally. 

Joyce was proceeded in death by her parents, sisters: Doris Ann Herron, Tracey Herron; and paternal grandparents, Vester and Lizzie Herron. 

We will truly miss Joyce’s kindness, her beautiful giving heart, her warm smile and the way she could cut those eyes, but we know God loved her best and until we meet again remember:

"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10
