Shawn C. Gates

Shawn Christopher Gates, 45, of Golden Pond Trail, Elkhart, Indiana, departed this life Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at University Medical Hospital, San Antonio, Texas. Shawn was born in Elkhart, Indiana, on August 27, 1974 to Jimmy and Delores (Harris) Gates.

He graduated in 1992 from Elkhart Central High School. He worked for Unique Trucking LLC as a Truck Driver. He enjoyed old model cars, fishing, motorcycles and family gatherings.

Shawn was preceded in death grandparents: James and Lucy Harris and Buddy and Emma Gates; great-grandparents, Victor and Leoler Gary; aunts: Ella L. Harris and Bessie D. Gates.

Survivors left to cherish his memory include his parents: Delores Gates and Jimmy Gates both of Elkhart, Indiana; daughter, Electshwal Armstrong; sons: Terry Armstrong, both of Blytheville, Arkansas, and Xavier Jackson of Jackson, Michigan; grandchildren: Kiyah and Kyrie Armstrong, Devon Rainey Jr., and Kala Jackson; one sister, Ylonda (Michael) Szucs; four brothers: Jimmy (Christina) Gates, Brandon Gates, Jaylyn Gates and Howard Gates; his fiance’, Kimberly Chandler; best friend, Freddie Johnson, all of Elkhart, Indiana; and special aunt, Claudette Mitchell of Atlanta, Georgia; along with other relatives and friends.
