Alice Parker Obituary

With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Alice Faye Parker, our loving mother, who gained her wings on June 6, 2026, at the age of 72.

Alice was born to the late Robert and Ida Herron in Okolona, Mississippi, on October 26, 1953. She moved to South Bend, Indiana from Germany in 1968 and graduated from LaSalle High School in 1971. She later moved to Indianapolis, where she chose to spend the remainder of her days in the care of her cherished children.

Alice was a woman of great substance, known for her loyalty and generosity. She was a dedicated postal worker for the United States Postal Service, where she served with unwavering commitment for over 35 years before retiring. But her most revered role was that of the family matriarch. Her home was always open, a haven for family gatherings and holidays, overflowing with love and the echo of shared laughter. Alice had a deep affection for her fur babies, Smokey, Pepper, and Baby, and was also devoted to her hobbies, which included bowling, playing card games, and spending quality time with her family and friends.

Alice was a pillar of strength and a beacon of love, a generous soul who enriched our lives with her presence. She was a devout Christian and a valued member of the Gethsemane Church of God. As we remember her, we find comfort in the words of the Bible, specifically Philippians 4:7 “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds”

Alice leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Dannie Parker; daughters; Jamila (Charles) Richmond and Ramla (Ty) Hampton; sons Dannie Jamonte (Toya) Parker and Malcolm (Michelle) Parker, along with 21 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Robert Herron, mother Ida Herron, sisters Betty Davis and Shirley Hooper, and brother Robert Herron.

We will gather to celebrate Alice's life on Monday, June 15, 2026, with visitation beginning at 11:00am EDT followed by a celebration of life at 12:00pm EDT at Alford's Mortuary, 1222 Napier Street, South Bend, Indiana, 46601. Alice's legacy is not one of sorrow, but of love, joy, and the unshakeable bonds of family.

We encourage you to share your fondest memories of Alice and upload photos to her memorial page. Let's celebrate Alice's life together, remembering the love and happiness she brought to each of us. Alice's spirit lives on in the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the memories we created together.
