Allen Lee Howell (Champ), a beacon of love and compassion, peacefully passed away on January 8, 2025, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones. Allen was born on May 17, to Charles E. and Elizabeth Howell.
Allen leaving a legacy, a loving family that was Champs' pride and joy. He was a son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his three darling daughters, Michelle Howell, Tonya Howell both of South Bend, Indiana and Denita Watson of Atlanta, GA; loving son to Elizabeth Howell, 14 grandchildren, Robert Hawkins, Raion Wright, Reana Thompson, Tiffany (Jarvis) Tolbert, Tyshawn Miller, Tarikka Miller, Rickey Miller, Taron Miller, Teaonna Miller, Damia Howell, Danaysha Beasley, Deaonna Crumbley, Damarcus Crumbley, Daniyah Crumbley with 9 great and 2 great-great grands who will carry forward his legacy of love and laughter.
Allen was preceded in death by his father Charles E. Howell siblings William (Bo) Howell-Bey, Nancy Howell, Quincy Heflin, Kathy Cole, nephew Silas Howell, niece Sinia Williams, nephew Isiah Bonds.
So many memories remain as a testament to the family's bond and resilience with our Allen. Allen leaves four siblings, Judy Makori Mckinney of TX, Renee (Willie) Davis and Charles Hall Jr. of South Bend IN, Glenn (Rebecca) Howell of Denver, NC. A special granddaughter, his pride and joy Dae Dae.
Uncle Champ's nurturing spirit lives on through a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Champ was a favorite to most we all have so many individual memories of Champ. Special Niece Antionette Makori, who was a huge help in caring for Uncle Champ. Champ was the life of the party where ever he showed up, he selflessly cared for others, leaving a legacy of warmth and compassion being everyone's favorite.
Allen's professional life was marked by his passion for construction work following the steps of his Dad. Most recent he was employed by Goodwill Industries. There was never a boring day with Allen being around.
He was a member of Progessive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Berry Spencer.
A celebration of Allen's life will be held at 5:00 PM on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church 1232 Bronson St. South Bend, IN 46615.Friends may visit with the family at the church one hour prior to the service.
