Anderson Groves

Mr. Anderson Groves of North Elmer Street, South Bend, Indiana passed away in his residence on May 15, 2022.

Anderson was born in Columbus, Mississippi on March 17, 1932 to Tommie and Clara (Guyton) Groves Sr.  In the fifties he relocated to South Bend.  In 1984 he and Luverta A. Jenkins were married.  Mr. Groves was a retired employee of Clark Equipment Company after 50 years of service.  He was a member of St. Paul Bethel Baptist Church.  In addition he always kept a nice garden.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Luverta; three stepdaughters, Elaine (Greg) Mitchem, Tammy Jenkins and Libby (Sean) Lott, all of South Bend; one son, Vernell Groves; stepsons, Patrick Dillard and Marvin Jenkins Jr., all of South Bend and Reginald Jenkins of Austell, Georgia; 19 grandchildren, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tommie and Clara Groves Sr.; sisters, Bernice Riles, Betty Jean Groves and Artesia Davis; brothers, Marvin Groves, Robert Groves., J.D. Groves, Charlie Earl Groves, Tommie Lee Groves and Sammie T. Groves.

Services will be held on Monday May 23, 2022 , 12 Noon at St. Paul Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 621 Lindsey Street, South Bend, IN 46616. Visitation will be held at 11 A.M at the church. Reverend Gilbert Washington will bring the word. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, 2257 Portage Ave, South Bend, IN 46616.
