Antwon Vaughen Obituary

Antwon JaShawn Vaughen, affectionately known as “Twon” of Irish Hills Apartments, South Bend, Indiana, departed from this life on Sunday, December 31, 2023. He was born in South Bend on April 20, 2002, to Antonio Vaughen Sr., and LaTonya “Tonya” Lewis. Antwon attended McKinley Elementary School September 2007 through June 2008; he graduated from kindergarten there. He attended Swanson Traditional School from 1st to 3rd grades from September 2008 through June 2011. After advancing excellence in his academics, Antwon was placed at Tarkington Elementary School and attended there from September 2011 through June 2015. He went on to attend Clay International Academy Middle School from September 2013 through June 2014. In September 2014 he enrolled in Career Academy South Bend. He graduated from 8th grade at Career Academy and also earned his high school diploma from there in June 2020. Antwon was awarded a Basketball Scholarship to Presentation Heights College in Aberdeen, South Dakota in August 2020. Antwon’s employment career includes Papa John’s Pizza, where he was a teenager, enjoying his job as a cook in 2017. Pizza was one of Antwon’s favorite dishes. He then went to Dick’s Sporting Goods Store and worked as a sales rep & clerk. Finally, he worked at Mastic from October 2022 through December 2023 as a traveling satellite dish technician. Antwon’s past time activities included basketball, #32 on Career Academy’s All Mighty Trailblazers Team from September 2014 until graduation. Basketball was his life but he was also musically talented and played the drums, and the keyboard. He was very creative and spent time making mixed beats as well as freestyling his own music. Antwon was a single man with a special dear friend: his girlfriend, Ne`vaeh Robinson who survives. Surviving family members include, his father, Antonio Vaughen Sr., of Fort Smith, Arkansas; his mother, LaTonya Lewis “Tonya;” stepfather, Andre Marshall; sisters, Kelis Chanel Lewis (and Joseph Burrell) all of South Bend; Kiara Rene Vaughen of Arkansas; stepsisters, Andreonna Marshall of Benton Harbor, Michigan, Amarie Marshall of Lansing, Michigan, Angel Crockett (Zosha Lynn) also of Benton Harbor; and Janice Murphy Marshall of South Bend; brothers, Antonio Vaughen Jr. (Big Bother) of Chicago, Illinois; stepbrothers, Aveontae Marshall of Lansing; and Andre Crockett of Benton Harbor; maternal grandmother, Ineada Sharon “Ms. Sharon” Lewis and paternal grandmother, Diane Vaughen – Taggett both of South Bend; step paternal granddad, Windell Taggett; paternal granddad, Ricky Moore; and paternal great-grandmother, Deloise Hill all of Chicago; maternal great-great-aunt, Patricia Appling and maternal great-great-uncle, Otis Appling both of Ferndale, Michigan; maternal great-uncle, Jerry (Misty) Appling Jr. of Arizona; maternal great-aunt & uncle, Geraldine Fisher Harrison & Eldridge Harrison of Norristown, Pennsylvania; paternal great aunt, Judy Vaughen of South Bend; paternal great-aunt, Shirley Vaughen and paternal great-aunt, Alberta Lollis, both of Chicago; paternal great-aunt, Bobbie Eaton of Illinois; paternal great-uncle, Rayvon Lollis of Indianapolis, Indiana; paternal great-uncle, Roger Lollis and maternal aunt, Phyllis Thomas both of Chicago; maternal aunt, Sherie Thomas (Kevin) of Plainfield, Illinois; maternal aunts, Heidi Woods and Laura Fisher both of Illinois; paternal aunt, Shannon Vaughen; maternal uncle & aunt, Corey (and Teresse “Teddy”) Lewis of Temecula, California; maternal uncle and Aunt, Demetrius (and Danielle) Thomas of Bolingbrook, Illinois; maternal uncle, Lorenzo Thomas of Joliet, Illinois; maternal uncle, Darious and paternal uncle, Loreanzo Vaughen both of Chicago; maternal aunt & uncle, Tiffany Baker McFee and Lee McFee and aunt, Tamika Martin all of Temecula; Antwon’s very best and dearest friends, Duwayne “Poppa” Allmon, Isaiah “Zay” Osborne, Bryant Hunt, and Tajeri L. “TJ” Crooks all of South Bend; and the entire Trailblazer Basketball Team— 2/2014 – 6/2020 & the Class of 2020 from Career Academy #32, Antwon JaShawn Vaughen (TWON) loved and appreciated each and every one of you guys! He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandmother, Everlean Lewis Whitehead.; great-step grand dad, Ronald Whitehead Sr.; maternal great-granddad, Jeremiah Jerry Appling; maternal great-grand-uncles, Phillip Appling, Jim Appling, Bill Appling, Frank Appling; maternal great—great aunts, Ella Jean Appling; maternal greatgreat-grandmother. Mrs. Ineada Appling; great-great-granddad, Earl Appling; maternal great uncle, Ronald Whitehead Jr.,”Smallz”; maternal granddad, Larry Robert Fisher “Head”; maternal great-grandmother, Geraldine Gladys Fisher; maternal great-granddad, Johnny Beason. maternal aunt & uncle, Lois Fisher & Eward Barron; maternal cousins, Keith Appling Sr., Phyllis Shannon Appling, Carl Jackson, and Ronnel Fisher; maternal aunts, Gladys Fisher Woods & maternal cousin, Janene Rogers; paternal grandmother, Fannie L.
