In Loving Memory of Apostle Toni Theresa Ferguson
May 23, 1963 – December 29, 2024
Apostle Toni Theresa Ferguson, a woman of unwavering faith and love, transitioned peacefully from this earthly life to her eternal home with the Lord on December 29, 2024. Born on May 23, 1963, to the late Mabel Ilean Alford in a family of five siblings, Toni embodied grace, resilience, and divine purpose from the very beginning.
Educated in the South Bend Public School System, Toni's path was one of devotion to both God and her family. After dedicating herself to her family, she earned her High School Diploma from Rochville University in 2007. Her passion for ministry led her to further her education, obtaining a Doctorate in Ministry and Religion with a focus on pastoral counseling, becoming a beacon of light for those seeking spiritual guidance.
From her early days at Pentecostal Cathedral COGIC in South Bend, Toni’s angelic voice and anointing became evident. She sang for the glory of God, touching lives in her community and beyond. Her extraordinary gifts led her to minister through music on global platforms—singing for the Prime Minister of Japan, performing at the White House for President Ronald Reagan, and sharing stages with gospel legends such as Twinkie Clark and Juanita Bynum. Yet, her most cherished audience was the man on the street, where she ministered with humility and compassion.
Her gifts and unwavering commitment to the work of God opened doors far beyond her hometown. Apostle Toni was a masterful networker, building meaningful relationships with community leaders, clergy, and individuals across diverse walks of life. Her name became synonymous with spiritual excellence, and her gifts paved the way for her to touch lives nationally and internationally. Her presence was a bridge for connecting people, and her ministry became a cornerstone of hope for many.
In 2006, Apostle Toni answered God’s call to establish, Refiner's Fire Worldwide Ministry, first in Chicago, IL, and later in Mishawaka, IN. As founder and overseer, she nurtured a congregation rooted in love, prayer, and the unyielding power of faith. Her ministry grew to encompass 14 churches, where she ordained leaders, held transformative prayer shut-ins, and ignited revival services that were nothing short of miraculous. Her prayers moved mountains, her prophetic words carried divine accuracy, and her ministry inspired countless lives.
Apostle Toni’s ministry extended beyond the pulpit. She welcomed children from the streets into her home, cared for individuals with special needs, and opened her doors to saints seeking solace and prayer. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her life reflected Matthew 22:37: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind."
Her style and grace were unmatched, often described as a powerhouse in the spirit and in fashion. Her Louis Vuitton Bible cover was a testament to her saying, "Casting out demons in style." She loved the colors white, gold, purple, and burgundy—symbols of purity and royalty. Her favorite singers included Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin, and Whitney Houston, and she found joy in coloring books, uplifting movies, and heartfelt conversations with loved ones.
Though she wished for no grand memorial, Apostle Toni’s legacy speaks louder than words. She was a devoted mother to Philshonjra Marie Jarrice Ferguson (Daughter), and Sir Jarrette Gear Saban George (Son), and a doting grandmother to Lai’Lanie Kristina Greer(Granddaughter) and Zakylah Araina Ferguson (Granddaughter). Her siblings, Jeffrey C. Reeves (Myra), Marsha Reeves Jew, and the late Zandra Michelle Austin, along with her beloved Aunt Mary Pat Austin, uncles William Austin and Orvester Austin, her honorary sisters and brothers: Apostle Dr. Theodore Tribbey Jr. D.Min, Apostle Dr. Karen S. Tribbey ThD, LuWana "Cookie" Austin, Esther Patrick, Raquel Hall,Jeanette Robinson, Matthew Latislaw, James Bray, Brad Lollis, nieces, nephews, spiritual children and extended family, mourn her deeply but celebrate her remarkable life.
Apostle Toni Theresa Ferguson lived a life of divine purpose, embodying Ephesians 4:32: "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." Her heart was golden, her faith unshakable, and her love unconditional. She leaves a legacy of hope, faith, and boundless grace. To know her was to know the love of Christ, and her memory will forever resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege to be touched by her light.
Rest in His glory, beloved Apostle. You are home.
