Bernard Scott, Jr. Obituary

Bernard "Bebe" Morris Scott, Jr.  known affectionately as "Abdulmuta Kabbir" to some, passed away on October 3rd, 2025. Born on May 8th, 1965, in Chicago, IL, Bernard lived a full and varied life that took him from the windy city through various locations in the United States, from the vibrant landscapes of Hawaii to the bustling cityscapes of Indiana. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Bernard’s life was a testament to his warm and loving nature, his talent for building both structures and relationships, and his unwavering reliability.

Bernard was known for his wit and humor. His laughter was infectious, spreading joy and merriment to those around him. He was a dedicated family man, always putting his loved ones first. He had a unique talent for construction and was proud to be self-employed in the industry. His work ethic was unparalleled, always striving to be the best man, father, and husband he could be. He took immense pleasure in his hobbies of fishing and spending time with his family. These moments of shared joy and laughter will be forever cherished by those who knew and loved him. As an accomplished military man, Bernard demonstrated a level of commitment and discipline that was truly inspiring. In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well." Bernard embodied this sentiment fully, leaving a lasting impact on those who were fortunate to know him.

Bernard is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Scott, and his children; Britney (Michael) Scott-Hobley, Taiwan (Coleia) SR, Lamar Boykins, Ryan Scott, Bernard III, Temira Scott, Angelique Scott, Dustyn Haskins, David Scott, and Alex Scott. He was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, leaving behind a legacy of love and wisdom for his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Cleaster Jr., Michael (Nikki) Scott, and Ramon Honore, and his nephew, Roderick Scott. Bernard was preceded in death by his father Bernard Sr., his mother Deborah (Cleaster - deceased) Kimbrough Jr., his sister Lisa Scott, and his stepfather Cleaster (Deborah - deceased) Kimbrough Jr.

To honor Bernard’s life and his love for family, we invite you to share your memories, photos, and stories of Bernard on his memorial page. In doing so, we can celebrate his life, remember his unique qualities and accomplishments, and hold onto the love and joy he brought into our lives.
