Bethonie Stout Obituary

Today we celebrate the life we were blessed and fortunate to have shared with Bethonie Mae Stout.  She was born on the 11th day of April 1988, to the union of Keith and Dolly Stout in Wabash, Indiana.

Upon graduating with honors from Southwood High School in 2006, where she excelled in tennis, she became a mother. Bethonie was a hard worker and whatever she put her mind and hands-on she excelled. Many times she had to make sacrificing decisions and one of them was to leave Elkhart, Indiana with her partner, Jason Humphrey in 2014.

In South Bend, she lived with Jason’s family as her surrogate family, who welcomed her with arms wide open; for nearly a year before relocating to her new home. Working from entry-level to Section Head, then Miner Materials Supervisor at C.T.D.I.  Bethonie rose through the ranks with hard work and dedication.

Just when her life was starting to bloom with a fresh start in life, she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2019, giving her yet another challenge to endure. Being who Bethonie was, she continued to be a mother, co-partner, Supervisor, caring daughter, sister, aunt, and friend until she chose to focus more on her treatment and retired from her position as a Supervisor.

Despite the ups and downs she endured throughout the changes of her diagnosis, Bethonie was a fighter and not the traditional ”Breast Cancer” motto fighter, but a real fighter defying the very essence of life itself.

She wanted to be remembered as a woman who enjoyed life and enjoyed all living creation, never had a wicked bone in her when people knowingly did things against her all the while being pleasant and simply happy throughout everything she has ever endured throughout her entire life.

In the end, she took back her life with all the struggles to the end and handed her life and tired body to the Most High God to commence her everlasting life. Bethonie was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, John Edward Stout and beloved Janet Sue Stout; maternal grandmother, Barbara Brinson; and cousin, Christopher Stout.

She leaves to cherish her memory three children: Keedon Whitney, Keeana Whitney, and TyShawn Whitney; her father, John Keith Stout (Robin); mother, Dolly Wall (Jared); her fiancé, Jason Humphrey; elder sister, Ashley Stout; younger sister, Misti Stout; nephews, Braxton Stout, Ethan Stout, Zakerie Howard, and Zoleten Howard; and one niece, Autym Stout; one brother, Justin Stout.  She became very close to Cassandra Burdine. Latisha Humphrey and Kendra Burdine, as well as their children whom she was quite fond and loving of.
