Mother Carrie L. Starr, 92, of Hilltop Drive South Bend, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday November 17, 2022, at her residence.
Ms. Carrie was born May 1, 1930, in Woodland Mills, Tennessee, to Benjamin H. and Oatha (Neely) Maddox who both preceded her in death along with two brothers O’Neal Maddox and Benjamin Maddox, three sisters Cassie Parchman, Bessie Ruth Bonds, and Nannie Green.
Carrie worked over 30 years for Hostess Brand Bakery as a Baker. She was a member of Pentecostal Cathedral Church of God in Christ where she served on the Mother’s Board. Her passion was her family, movies, games and going to amusement parks. She relocated to Indiana from California, in 2003, under the life changing care of her loving niece Cathy S. Thomas and special nephew Elija Mcpherson, until their untimely death in 2021.
Survivors left to cherish her memory include her daughter Ovetta Starr of Los Angeles CA, three grandchildren DayVeon Starr, Anthony Starr and GeRae Starr, three great grandchildren Jayden Starr, Ryden Starr and Avery Starr, special nieces Terrie Green, Seceilia Whitfield and Kennedy Whitfield along with a host of other nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Services for Mother Starr will be held on Tuesday November 29, 2022 1 P.M at Pentecostal Cathedral C.O.G.I.C. 1025 Western Avenue, South Bend, Indiana 46601. Friends may visit with the family an hour prior at the Cathedral. Bishop Donald L. Alford Sr. will bring the word. Arrangements have been entrusted with Alford’s Mortuary Inc.
