Cassandra Pope

Cassandra Annette Pope, born on November 17, 1967, in South Bend, Indiana, was a woman of resilience and strength. Her spirit, as vibrant as it was, was not defined by her disability, but by her unyielding determination and heartening optimism. She was a proud alumna of John Adams High School and held a cherished position as a shift manager at McDonald's. Cassandra's tenacious spirit and commitment to her work made her a beloved figure in her community and workplace.

Cassandra is survived by her daughters, Jenny Byrd and Laura Rochelle both of South Bend, IN; her son, Bennie Rochelle of Muskegon, MI; her sister, Diane (Ronnie) Powell-Jones of Statesboro, GA; her grandchildren, Asata Mann, Legasii Rochelle, Braylin Brimite, JaBrijiah Rochelle, Namyiah Davis, DaKari Byrd, and she eagerly anticipated the arrival of her great-grandchild in June; her favorite cousin, Virginia Booker of Indianapolis and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Byrd Sr. and Laurel "Loree" Byrd, and her siblings, Jenny Byrd, James Jr., and Anthony Byrd. 

A memorial service for Cassandra will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at 3:00pm EST at North 22, located at 5202 West Linden Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, 46619.
