Catherine Williams, a dedicated daughter, sister, mother and friend departed this life to receive her eternal reward in heaven on February 25, 2025. Catherine was born March 21, 1931, in Des Arc, AR, to the union of the late Nathaniel and Martha (Stubblefield) Humbert. She was the eldest of her parents five remaining children.
Catherine attended Des Arc public schools where she studied and worked hard. She was an avid reader. She could do math in her head and learned to write with a quill pen and had beautiful penmanship. She attended school with her future sisters in laws Geraldine and Clara Williams whom she was good friends with. She had to rise early to help her mother with the household chores and take care of her younger siblings before going to school.
She married her future husband, of 67 years, Rudolph N. Williams on December 26, 1948, relocating shortly thereafter to South Bend, IN, in 1949. To that union 6 boys and 2 girls were born. She worked in the medical field as a nurse assistant for 34 years at the two local Hospitals, St. Joseph Regional Memorial Center and retiring from Memorial Hospital. She also was an entrepreneur at heart, as she sold antiques and Stanley Home Products for 25 years.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories her children, Raymond Williams of Seattle, Washington, Larry Williams, in Felicia L. Williams, Rehnard (Emma) L. Williams, Ramona Williams and Alvin Williams all of South Bend, IN, and two special daughters in- laws Marva Williams of South Bend, IN and Marcia Williams of Houston, TX, 3 sisters, Thelma Shields, Martha Wash and Georgia Steen of Monticello, AR, 1 brother, Donnell (Irma) Humbert of Jacksonville, SC, 2 sisters in laws Carolyn Demery of Saganaw, MI and Mary Alice Easley of Atlanta, GA, 1 brother in law Royce Williams of Mcgee, AR, 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, two bonus daughters, Glessie Forester of West Virginia and Mary Kennedy of South Bend, IN, along with a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel and Martha Humbert, her husband Rudolph N. Williams, two sons Aubrey L. Williams and Michael A. Williams, one great grandson, RaShaun Mason, two sisters in law, Geraldine Hunt and Clara McKissic, Funeral services will take place on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church at 10 am with visitation 1 hour prior. Arrangements have been entrusted with Alford's Mortuary.
