Mr. Charles K Moore Jr 80 of Dugdale Drive South Bend IN passed away October 1, 2022 at Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center South Bend IN.
Charles was born to Charles K. Moore Sr and Daisy Helen(Fields) Howard on October 14, 1941 in South Bend IN.
Charles a lifetime resident of South Bend IN attended PerleyElementary School, Thomas Jefferson Middle School and graduated from John Adams High School in 1960. In 1962 heenlisted in the United States Army where he was stationed at Fort Bragg NC. He drove 2 ½ ton trucks in the military and was Honorably Discharged in 1964.
Charles worked from February 1966 to September of 1982 at Wheelabrator Frye. Some of his duties were a ten ton over head crane operator, fork lift driver, drill press operator, roller operator and material handler. He then worked for AM General as a fork lift driver. He also worked for Eberhart Steel as a forklift driver. He was laid off from both of those jobs and started working for SBCSC in 1985. He worked out of the Service Building for 18 years and retired in 2003. He went back to work for SBCSC in 2005 as a paraprofessional working with Special Ed.
Charles loved pool, bowling and golf. He was a former member of Pilgrim Baptist Church. He married Flora (Gamble) Moore who preceded him in death along with his parents Charles K Moore Sr and Daisy Howard, brother in law Greg Hogan, father in law Jesse Gamble, an aunt Peggy Harris, a long time best friend William “Billie” Taylor.
Survivors left to cherish his memory include two daughters DeAnna Moore of Greenwood, and IN and Tanika Moore of South Bend IN, a son Charles K (Chris) Moore III of Lebanon IN, 13 grandchildren Charles K Moore IV, Jeffrey Finley, Charles Malcolm Shane, Carson Kenneth Emery, Chase Kenneth Emery, Owen Kenneth Collins, Zane Christopher Usir Moore, CorvonOdynski, Mikhail Whitmore, Yahinus Cortez Jones II. MaJestiJones and Prynce Jones, a cousin Cheryl Hayes, brother in law Timothy (Whitney) Hogan, sisters in law Jan Hogan and Joyce Hogan all of South Bend IN, brothers in law Robert Hogan of Jeffersonville IN and Joe Gamble of Niles MI, a sister in law Flora Crothers of Granger IN along with other relatives and friends.
Services for Mr. Moore will be held on Saturday October 15, 2022 at 11 A.M in the chapel of Alford’s Mortuary, 1222 Napier Street, South Bend, Indiana 46601. Friends may visit with the family an hour prior to the services. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted with Alford’s Mortuary Inc.
