Sylvester Bailey Wilson, a resident of Elwood Avenue, South Bend, Indiana passed away in South Bend, Indiana on Monday, July 12, 2021. He was born to the late Rosie Lee Williams and Bailey Wilson in Clarks, Louisiana on April 18, 1947.
He lived in South Bend since 1969 and moved to Washington D.C. in 1978, but returned to South Bend in 1989. In Washington, D.C. he married Jacqueline Marshall. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army after serving his country for several years, receiving the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and was an expert rifleman.
Charles was a retired bus driver for Transpo. He also drove for Metro Transit while living in Washington D.C. His favorite hobbies were cooking, especially B.B.Q. He loved to sing and sang with the Michiana Miracles, dancing, and was a member of Greater New Jerusalem Baptist Church.
Charles has left behind one daughter, Ivory (Andra) Pulluiam; three sons: Charles (LaVern) Wilson, Nikcolis (LaQuisha) Wilson, and Zacques (Ashley Henderson) Wilson, all of South Bend, Indiana; eight grandchildren: Myracle Pulluiam, Andra Pulluiam, Nikcolis Wilson, Marqwan Pulluiam, Jacqueline Lattimore, Charles Wilson, Kayla Wilson, and Myana Wilson; two great-grandchildren; two sisters: Angie Smith and Katie Turner, both of South Bend; one brother, Roger Walker, also of South Bend, along with other relatives and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by siblings: Betsy Ann Moran, Wilbert Wilson, Sam Wilson, Aubrey Wilson, Barbara Skipper, Adell Colman, Daisey Broadstreet, Bessie Neal, Billy Wilson, and Myrtle L. Anderson.
