Christine Bermudez-Miller, born Christine Marie Aguilar, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of December 27, 2025, at the age of 49, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was diagnosed in October and faced her illness with remarkable strength, quiet determination, and grace, surrounded by love.
Christine was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Linda Van Allen and the late Jose Aguilar. She later moved to South Bend, Indiana, where she made her home and built a life deeply rooted in family, perseverance, and resilience. Throughout her life, Christine was known for her strength of spirit, her warmth, and her ability to endure hardship while continuing to care deeply for those around her.
Above all else, Christine was a mother. She was the mother of six children, each of whom held a meaningful place in her life and story. In her later years, she shared her life with her partner, Jose Bermudez, and together they raised their three sons: Jose Bermudez III, Omar Bermudez, and Nathan Bermudez. Her children were the center of her world, and her love for them was constant and unwavering.
Christine is survived by her partner, Jose Bermudez; her sons Jose III, Omar, and Nathan; her mother, Linda Van Allen; and her stepfather, Maurice Van Allen. She is also survived by her brothers, Joe Aguilar, Jason Aguilar and William Ven Allen.
Those who knew Christine remember her as a woman of resilience and-someone who carried herself with quiet strength, who loved fiercely, and who left a lasting impression through her honesty, compassion, and perseverance. She navigated life's challenges with determination and left behind lessons of strength, love and endurance that will continue to guide her family.
Christine's legacy lives on through her children, her family, and all who were touched by her life. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
