Christopher L McFadden, Sr. was born February 9, 1960, to his parents Frances and Benjamin McFadden in South Bend, Indiana. He transitioned at home, Tuesday February 10, 2026, at 3:16pm, surrounded by his loved ones.
He lived a life in dedication to three children, two grandchildren, and a great grandson that he shared with Rose “Sue” Peck-Redding. And especially, his one and only daughter, Carla McFadden, who dedicated her adult life to caring for and providing a home for her father.
A beloved member of the community and a caterer to a multitude of family and neighborhood events. Chris loved to barbecue and cook for his loved ones and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He loved music and playing bingo. Known to be dressed to impress in suits that were made in an array of colors. A genuine soul, Chris, spread love and laughter into every space that he entered. He possessed a fondness for fun times and good memories and was known to capture some of life’s most precious moments with his Polaroid camera.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his only daughter and caregiver, Carla (DeCarlos Sr.) McFadden-Smallwood, his beloved grandson, DeCarlos Smallwood Jr., granddaughter D’Mara Smallwood, a great grandson, Dylan Smallwood, siblings Olivia Norman, Diane Williams, Carol N. Hilton, Albert Norman, Eugene Lawson, and baby brother Gary McFadden, who remained at his side until the end. He also leaves his mother-in-love, Lily Mae Wells, his favorite niece, Stephanie Grundy, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Frances and Benjamin McFadden, his brother, Carl Eugene McFadden, his two sons, Christopher Chiffon McFadden and Carl Eugene McFadden, a sister-in-love, Deborah Ann Neely, and dear friend, Tajuanna “Poonie” Norris.
Christopher’s presence on his earth will truly be missed by the many lives that he touched and those who he formed lifelong bonds with. May he rest well knowing that he meant the world to all those who had the pleasure of his acquaintance.
