Clarice Blue, born on May 16, 1938 in Laurens County, Georgia, was a beacon of radiant warmth and unwavering strength who touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Though she transitioned to a new journey on August 6, 2023, she leaves behind an enduring legacy that spans over eighty-five vibrant years.
A resident of South Bend, Indiana, Clarice was known for her love of adventure captured in her frequent trips to the casino, bingo halls, and her cherished visits to St. Margaret’s House. Her spirit was reminiscent of the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children...to leave the world a bit better...to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Clarice's life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the joy of shared experiences. She was a loving mother, a beloved sister, and a cherished friend. Her days were never defined by employment but rather by the richness of the relationships she nurtured and the lives she influenced. Clarice's vibrancy was infectious, her laughter a melody that livened up any room. Her wisdom was a guiding light for all who had the privilege of knowing her. Clarice made everyone feel loved, seen, and deeply valued.
Clarice is survived by her sons, Andrew Blue and Michael Gathright, daughter Diane Blue, her siblings, Marie Ruiz, Vickey Burris, W.C Smith, and Willie Mindy. She now joins her late husband, Alvin Blue, and her son Ronnie Blue in the realm of eternal peace. Clarice is also preceded in death by her parents, John and Ethel Smith, and her siblings, John Smith, L.C Smith, Ulysee Smith, M.C Smith, Nelson Smith, Odessa Mays, and babysister Ethel Smith. In the words of Shakespeare, "All's well that ends well." Clarice's life was truly well-lived, and her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us.
