Delores Gates, 67, of Golden Pond Trail, in Elkhart, Indiana passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020, at Elkhart General Hospital, Elkhart, Indiana. Delores was born in Chicago, Illinois to James and Lucy Mae Harris, on May 30, 1953; both parents preceded her in death; along with grandparents: Victor and Leoler Gary; son, Shawn C. Gates; grandchildren: Kasey and Kayla Szucs; sisters: Ella L. Harris and Bessie D. Gates; and brothers: James Harris Jr. and Joseph L. Harris.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Gates; daughter, Ylonda (Michael) Szucs; sons: Jimmy (Christina) Gates, Brandon Gates, Jaylyn Gates and Howard Gates; eight grandchildren: Kiesha Gates, Kaylin Szucs and Zander Gates all of Elkhart, Indiana, Jordan (Bradley) Szucs of El Cajon, California, Andrew (Danielle) Gates of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, André Gates of Newport Beach, California, Alana Payne of Scottsdale, Arizona, Xavier Jackson of Jackson, Michigan, Electshwal Armstrong and Terry Armstrong both of Blytheville, Arkansas; brothers: Leo Harris and Alonzo (Dorothy) Harris both of Elkhart, Indiana, Stanley (Alivia) Harris of Bellwood, Illinois, Kenneth Harris of Chicago, Illinois and Derrick Harris of Phoenix, Arizona; sisters: Patricia Wilder of South Carolina, Christine Harris, Diane Harris, and Juanita Harris; stepmother, Dorethia Harris all of Chicago, Illinois; special nieces: Jackie Harris and Yvette Harris both of Elkhart, Indiana, Sherie Harris of Stone Mountain, Georgia; special cousins: Claudette Mitchell of Atlanta, Georgia, Shelia Jackson, Tina Bryant and Clifford Bailey all of Elkhart, Indiana; 16 great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery Elkhart, Indiana.
