On Thursday, November 26, 2020, Donald Stephens, age 73, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph Medical Center in Mishawaka, Indiana. On January 11, 1947, Donald Stephens was born to John and Annie Stephens in Brooklyn, New York.

Donald was the father of five children:  Kim, Don, Jr., Jemal, Malcolm and Stephanie. Donald lived in Brooklyn, New York, for most of his life, where he began his career in Facilities Management. Donald had worked for the New York City Department of Social Services from 1970 to 1993, when he retired and relocated to South Bend, Indiana, along with his (now former) wife, Linda Stephens, and their two children (Malcolm and Stephanie). Donald immediately acquired employment with the Indiana Family & Social Services Administration and was assigned to the Northern Indiana State Developmental Center until 1997 when the office was closed. Shortly thereafter, he was hired by Indiana University South Bend (IUSB) where he worked from 1997-1998. He left IUSB to accept a position with Notre Dame University, where he worked from 1998 until he retired in 2014.

Donald had several hobbies:  Karate, Bike Riding, Singing, Dancing, and Drawing. He also enjoyed watching movies, spending time with his family, playing cards with his friends, and contributing to the Hoosier Indiana State Lottery. Donald had become the Patriot of the Stephens’ family and communicated with his sisters, nephews, and nieces on a daily basis.

Donald was pre-deceased by his parents (John and Annie Stephens); his two brothers: Larry Stephens (Gloria) and Bobby Stephens; two sisters: Judy and Barbara Stephens; and his nephew, Bobby Stephens Jr.

Donald is survived by his five children:  Kim Stephens, Donald “Don” Stephens Jr., Jemal Williams-Stephens, Malcolm L. Stephens, and Stephanie I. Stephens; and two sisters: Shirley Dewindt (Charles) and Annie Mosley (John); two special nephews, Lloyd Daniels and Lovett Mosley; a special niece, Tanzania Mosley; along with 8 grandchildren, a host of nephews and nieces: 30 great-nephews and nieces; and  20 great-great nephews and nieces.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to his daughter Stephanie and ex-wife Linda for their love and support in the caring of Donald.
