Dorothy L. McGlown

Dorothy Lennell McGlown, 78, of East Corby Blvd., South Bend, IN., passed away Monday, August 10, 2020, at her residence.

Dorothy was born to K. Martin and Sue Wadie Joiner on March 31, 1942, in Oxford, MS., who both preceded her in death along with an aunt, Dorothy Hamilton, uncle; Clyde Martin, nephews; Brandon (Barbara) Reeves, Herbert and James Martin, a niece; Shareita Patton, stepfather; Ginger Howard, sister & brother in law; Emma Charline (Lorienzer) Green, sister in law; Mary Hankins and brother in law; Alford “Prince” King. 

In 1952 she started her Christian journey at Saint Peter's Church. On December 24, 1964, in Oxford, MS. She married Willie F. McGlown Sr. Coming from Oxford, MS., they moved to South Bend, IN. She worked 15 years for Notre Dame in environmental services and 25 years for Koszegi Industries as a seamstress. 

Dorothy enjoyed attending church where she served as president of usher board, cooking, family events, spending time with family, going to the casino with her husband. She was a current member of Temple of God Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors left to cherish her memory include her husband; Willie F. McGlown Sr., one daughter; Rona (Cory) Edmondson of Elkhart, IN., two sons; Willie (Akesma) McGlown Jr., of South Bend, IN., and Dion (Jamie) McGlown of Fort Wayne, IN., 14 grandchildren; Tyshawn, Semaj, Steven, Jazmine, Juwan, Jaqueline, Elijah, Kori, Jamera, KaSaun, Taylin, Lenee, Brooklynn and Diona, one great-grandson; Jaiden and two great-grandchildren on the way, four sisters; Sue Wadie Mathis, Lucy King and Latonya Gaines all of South Bend, IN., and Genell (Jerry) Townsend of Oxford, MS., one brother; Alfreeman (Joyce) Martin, sisters in law; Mary Martin and Katie Fuller both of South Bend, IN., brother in law; George (Doris) Hankins of Allegan, MI., special friend; Mary Ann Hilliard of South Bend, IN., along with a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
