Dorothy Jean (White) Porter, 69, of South Bend, Indiana died peacefully on Sunday, August 29, 2021. Dorothy was born on April 19, 1952 in Niles, Michigan to Albert White and Julia Mae (Bland) White.
Dorothy married the late Preston Porter. God blessed them to raise three children: Shelia (Tony) Green of St. Paul, Minnesota, Aletha Benion of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Juanita Porter of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Dorothy attended Fairland Elementary and Niles High School. She worked at Gabes and the Kroc Center. Dorothy was part of the neighborhood watch and loved to play bingo and spend time at the casino and the Elks lodge.
Dorothy leaves behind three daughters: Shelia, Aletha, and Juanita. Also, her four sisters and two brothers: Matila White of Mercedes, California, Shirley (Alex) Sanders, Delores (Dan) Seidling of Benton Harbor, Michigan, Mattie (Sonry) Rushing of Niles, Michigan, Alvin White of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Calvin (Sandra) White of Benton Harbor, Michigan; six grandchildren: Timmy, Yoviccha, Seydou, Pierre, Hansen, and Janetta all of South Bend, Indiana; host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; along with special friends: Earl, Carl, Sidney, Smona and Tony.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Preston Porter; her parents, Albert White and Julia White; her grandparents, Grover and Jessie White; and her maternal grandparents, Alton and Mary Bland; her sister Maggie; and a host of uncles and aunts.
