Dorothy Lee Richardson, 90, of South Bend, Indiana, was called home to be with the Lord on January 5, 2021.
Dorothy Richardson was born in Water Valley, Mississippi, on January 15, 1930, to the union of the late Lathon Sr. and Mamie Wilkins.
Dorothy graduated from Manassas High School in Memphis, Tennessee in 1947. She later moved to Chicago, Illinois in the early 1950s. Dorothy was employed by Cook County Hospital until 1992 when she relocated to South Bend, Indiana.
Dorothy was a faithful member of St. Paul Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She humbly served in Bible study, Sunday School and provided food for the homeless.
Dorothy was united in holy matrimony to Felix Richardson, who precedes her in death.
Dorothy loved fishing, music, going to church, cooking, and being around her family.
Dorothy leaves precious memories in the heart of her two daughters: Kyndra Reid of South Bend, Indiana, and Brenda (Sheldon) Lucas of Detroit, Michigan; one brother, Lathon Wilkins Jr. of Memphis, Tennessee; 12 grandchildren: Latisa (Corey) McKinney, Aaliyah Reid, Madison Reid, Ramona Billingsley, Taraious (Stacy) Ford, Alfred (Tiffany) Fultz, DréOn William and Darnell Reid, all of South Bend, Indiana, Tia Franklin, Tiana Richardson, Tamia Lucas and George Richardson, all of Detroit, Michigan; a special niece, Delilah Brown; a special great-great-granddaughter, Karrington Edwards; a special grandson, Jake Lucas; and a host of great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Lathon Sr. and Mamie Wilkins; one son-in-law, Erskine Reid; three sisters: Irene Hawkins, Klister Patton, and Celia Johnson.
