Dorothy Lee Williams, born in the heart of Hope, Arkansas on August 14, 1936, was a guiding light in the lives of many. Her journey of life, spanning 89 years, was a testament to her resilience, immense love, and enduring spirit. As Mother Teresa once said, "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." Dorothy embodied this principle throughout her life, leaving an indelible imprint on the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her.
Dorothy spent most of her life in Benton Harbor before moving to Avon, Indiana. Her life was a testament to service and care for others, illustrated by her dedicated career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Lakeland Hospital for 45 years until her retirement. As a CNA, Dorothy touched countless lives, providing the highest level of care and compassion to her patients. She was a beacon of hope and comfort to all who were fortunate enough to be under her care. With every life she touched, she left a little bit of her radiant spirit behind, turning her profession into a life-long mission of love.
Dorothy's personal life was as rich and fulfilling as her professional one. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, leaving behind a legacy of love through her family. Her family will remember her as a pillar of strength, with her love being the foundation of their family. She is survived by her niece Zina Taylor, grandson Dennis Staner, and granddaughter Shanette Williams. Dorothy has joined her loved ones who preceded her in death including her parents, Etta Gauff and Gertrude Scroggins, her son Benny Williams, and siblings Bruce Black, Hazel Witherspoon, Doris Black, and Charles Sr. and a host of nieces and nephews.
