Dorothy was born on April 5, 1944, in Como, Mississippi, to Ruffin and Willie Mae Whiting. She was the eldest child born of their union. Her parents cherished her, and her six sisters and brothers adored her. Dorothy graduated from South Bend’s Central High School. In September of 1965, she married Charles Edward Wright, and three children were born from their union: Cheryl, Tina Lynn, and Mardi Lee Wright.

Dorothy’s early years were rooted in faith, as she accepted Christ at a young age. She was a longtime member of the Greater St. John Missionary Church.

Her family was her greatest joy, and she instilled in her children the values of love, faith, perseverance & a strong sense of family. Dorothy was a hardworking employee and continued to work part-time as a retired annuitant for Performance Plus in South Bend, Indiana up to her recent hospitalization. As a longtime Mary Kay representative, she has formed lifelong friendships, loyal customers, and business connections. Dorothy’s most valued treasures were the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren, her travels, time spent with family, cooking for others, playing BINGO, and rooting for her favorite football teams and personal pick football players.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Tina Lynn Rose (Michael) of Marysville, California, and her son, Mardi Lee Wright of Kent, Washington.

She is survived by her siblings, Rosa Morris (Alexander Ford); Diana Coleman (Dwight Scott), both of whom reside in Seattle, Washington; Ida Montgomery (John) and Shelline Warren (Geoffrey) of Los Angeles, California; One Sister-in-Law, Denise Whiting of South Bend; One Aunt, Mattie B.
