Eld. Coy Samuel Malone Aug. 3, 1934-July 17, 2024

Eld. Coy Samuel Malone, 89 was a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, brother, uncle, son and cousin. Most importantly, Eld. Malone was a man of God who never wavered in his commitment to Christ. Eld. Malone transitioned from labor to his Heavenly reward on July 17, 2024, at Beacon Medical Center, surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Eld. Malone was born on August 3, 1934, in Greenfield, Tenn to parents Wayde Mullins and Velma Sylvia Ward. He moved to South Bend during his childhood to join his bonus father, Elvis Malone, and mother Velma Sylvia (Ward) Malone. In March 1990, Eld. Malone married Thelma Jean Blackmon, and the two remained married for 34 years.

Eld. Malone worked at Bendix Corporation in the brake and steering division until he retired. In 1978, Eld. Malone accepted Christ as his personal savior at Believers Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Pastor Joseph A. Jennings. After much prayer, Eld. Malone joined Christ Temple Church of God in Christ. Eld. Malone became a member of Christ Temple in 1987, and he remained a faithful member until his transition.

Eld. Malone was ordained at an elder in the 1st Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ by the late Bishop Milton L. Hall. Eld. Malone served the church in numerous capacities. He as an associate elder at Christ Temple, as well as a member of the church’s trustee board. Eld. Malone served as president of the YPWW, the Missions Department, where he conducted outreach activities as Hope Rescue Mission, the Center for the Homeless and the DuComb Center’s Re-Entry Program.

Eld. Malone was a trusted assistant to his pastor in various capacities. He served as the 1st Jurisdiction of Indiana North C.O.G.I.C as a Devotional Prayer Warrior. Preaching was Eld. Malone’s true calling and passion. It was his sincere desire to see everyone he met saved. This was especially true of unsaved family members, and he never missed a chance to talk to them about Jesus and compel them to enter the Arc of Safety.

Eld. Malone leaves to cherish his memory wife Thelma Malone; six daughters, Sandra Louise (Juan Sr) Simpson, Lena Mae Malone, Eva Marie (Pastor Aaron) Sconiers, Evelyn Rose (Pastor Aaron Sr.) Gills, all from South Bend; Carolyn Diane Cousette from St. Paul, Mn., Penelope Malone from Indianapolis; two sons, Troy Lee (Wanda) Malone, Sr.  and Tony Robert Malone from South Bend, three bonus daughters Gail (Howard) Dukes and Loree Blackmon from South Bend and Patricia (Lonnie) Duboise from Columbus, Ga., and two sisters, Mary Louise Joy and Beatrice Wilcox from Fulton, Tn., 39 grandchildren, 67 great grandchildren, 35 great great grandchildren, three cousins, Clarabell Williams, Eddie Ward and Glennie Ward.

Eld. Malone was preceded in death by his bonus father and mother Elvis and Velma (Ward) Malone, father Wayde Mullins, bonus daughter Joanne (Kyle) Baker, one brother (James Samson Hillsman), grandchildren Troy Lee Malone, Jr., Elvis Jones, Amica Anise Gills, Stephanie Kyle, Justice Kyle; grandparents Samuel and Mary (Winston) Ward, and mother-in-law Corrine Blackmon. Eld. Coy S. Malone was a Godly man who devoted his life to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ as an Elder in the Church of God in Christ, Inc.
