Elmore "Jimmy" Whittaker Obituary

Elmore “Jimmy” Whittaker was born August 24, 1949, and blessed to the wonderful parents of Robert & Ardel Whittaker. Elmore made his transition to his resting place Sunday, August 23, 2020.

Elmore was a lifelong resident of South Bend, IN. As a child, Elmore attended Oliver and Linden schools and he graduated from Central High School where he played football. Elmer was a great piano player and could draw anything. He was very talented. After the passing of his parents, he opened Whittaker Restaurant & Fish Market on South Chapin Street, South Bend, IN. Elmore later drove and retired from the Yellow Cab Company after working there for a number of years.

Elmore leaves behind to cherish his memories his stepmother; Elizabeth Whittaker, stepbrother; Leotis (Connie) Nelson, sister-cousins-prophetess; Jackie Kennedy Coleman, Beverly Gilmore, Harriet Jean Parkes, and cousin; Gregory Williams all of South Bend, IN., a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, family & friends.

Elmore was preceded in death by his mother & father; Ardel & Robert Whittaker, step sister; Vannesa Whittaker, cousins; Bosie Watson and George Wilkins, aunts; Lillie Mae Harris and Estella Williams.

The family would like to thank Cardinal Nursing Home for the care and concern shown to Mr. Whittaker and Alford’s Mortuary for their professionalism.
