Eurla was born May 24, 1924, to Minnie and Fred Hicks. She had 3 siblings; Willie Lee, William (Bill), and her sister, Bessie (Sis). She got the name Bae Bae, because her brother Bill could not pronounce her name. Eurla lost her mother at a young age and the family moved to Memphis.
Eurla met James Johnson in 1940 and they married in1942. She always had a warm smile and a word of encouragement for anyone who needed to hear it. Her greatest impact was the love she had for her family. She loved people, especially the kids, and regularly adopted people into the family. She enjoyed cooking good meals, sharing laughs and jokes, traveling near and far, watching movies, and music. Her favorite rapper was 50 Cent. She will be remembered as a fair and loving mother and confidant. The family will forever cherish her home-cooked meals, style, sense of humor, storytelling, and generosity.
