Eva Davis Obituary

Eva Davis was born on January 1, 1957, in South Bend, Indiana to the late Thomas Brinson and late Annie Laura Brinson. She departed this life on July 23, 2021, at Memorial Hospital.

Eva was well known as a humble, loving, generous, and kindhearted woman. She was the life of the “party” everywhere. She was loved! Eva absolutely adored her two children and grandchildren, as she would say “they are my everything”.

Eva was a member of Kingdom Christian Center. After she retired, she enjoyed working with her niece, Charisse, and co-worker, Ms. Bishop “the prayer warrior” at Charisse’s Pieces when she could. She was employed at Harrison Elementary School as a cafeteria aid for 19 years and was blessed to retire in 2019. She enjoyed her job so much; she would also work the summer park lunch program to make sure kids in the neighborhood would receive a meal to eat. Her grandkids share so many special memories of their “granny” taking them to the park lunches every summer. In her younger years she also worked at the Yknot Shack (a well-known establishment in the South Bend area) If you know, you know LOL!

Left to cherish her sweet memories and forever celebrate her life are her only daughter, Tearra (Tommy) Dotson of Camby, Indiana; and her only son, Maurice (Shanta) Thompson of Granger, Indiana; nine grandchildren: Maurice Jr., Jayden, Kennedy, and Jeremyah Thompson of Granger, Indiana, Gary III, Tyrin, and Cierra (Lil Eva) Wright, Brooklyn and Tommy Jr. Dotson of Camby, Indiana; two great-grandchildren: Maurice III, and Nahvi Thompson; sister, Laverne (Isacc) Hadley of Elkhart, Indiana; three nieces: Charisse (Canneth) Lee, Shena Lindsey of South Bend, Indiana, Tawana (Antuan) Johnson of Noblesville, Indiana, and Candace (Isac) Hadnot of Arlington, Texas; three aunts: Betty (Eugene) Williams, Jenny Faye Olive, and Mae Sue (T.W.) Dekyle of Metter, Georgia; two uncles: Jimmy Byrd and James (Bull) Byrd of South Bend, Indiana; one goddaughter, Yuneka Brownlee of Indianapolis, Indiana. She also leaves to cherish her memory partner, Samuel Hall of over 20 years of South Bend, Indiana; along with countless other relatives, friends, and loved ones.

A sister and brother-in-law, Marietta (Marshall) Lindsey preceded her in death.

A Million Times

A million times we've needed you, A million times we've cried.
If love alone could have saved you, You never would have died.
If all the world was ours to give, We would give it yes, and more,
To see you coming up the steps, And walking through the door.
To hear your voice and see your smile, To sit and talk awhile,
To be with you that same old way, Would be our fondest day.
A heart of gold stopped beating, Two smiling eyes closed to rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.
