It is with profound respect and admiration that we honor the life of J.W. Hamilton, who was born on December 9, 1951, in Midnight, Mississippi, and passed away on January 24, 2025.
A resolute road worker and committed family man, J.W. was a force of nature whose legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those he touched. J.W. retired from Utility Masters, working tirelessly on the road crew to keep the city’s infrastructure running smoothly. His unwavering dedication and strong work ethic were an inspiration to his colleagues and all who knew him. He was a man of extraordinary capabilities, who believed in the power of hard work and determination. J.W. was blessed with a large, loving family who were his greatest joy.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Octavia Hamilton of South Bend, IN; his parents, Roosevelt and Ernestine Hamilton of Midnight, MS; his children, Jerral Hamilton of South Bend, IN and Donna Richey of St. Louis, MO both from a previous union with Mary Louise Hamilton of Mississippi; his stepsons, Sekoy Easton of Elkhart, IN and Billy Gene Easton II; his siblings, Christine Coleman, Bernice Hamilton, Helen Hamilton all of South Bend, IN, Willie (Anne) Hamilton of Jackson, MS, Roosevelt (Stephanie) Hamilton of San Diego, CA, Charles (Teresa) Hamilton of Kansas City, MO, and James Hamilton of South Bend, IN; his special niece, Dotsie Hamilton, and his favorite sister-in-law, Ada Hamilton also known as "Tot." He was predeceased by his brothers, Joe Wayne, Nason, and Curtis Hamilton, and his sister and Beatrice Jenkins.
To each of them, J.W. was more than just a family member, he was a pillar of strength, comfort, and love. J.W. was a man who lived his life to the fullest, always savoring the simple pleasures and cherishing his time with loved ones. He was a guiding light for many, and his memory will continue to shine brightly in our hearts. J.W.'s life was deep in love, wisdom, and compassion, and he will be dearly missed.
