Mr. James Calvin Williams, age 61, loving son, father, brother and grandfather of South Bend, IN, departed this life on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at the Earnestine Raclin House Center for Hospice Care.
James was the youngest of his siblings. Born in Canton Mississippi to Mr. Frank and Elnora Williams. He attended Canton Public Schools playing football, basketball and baseball and was on the Seminoles League Team in Canton. In 1985, James relocated to South Bend, In., where he started a new phase of life working at the Meijer store on Portage Road. Later, he worked for Communications Test Design as a material handler. He loved his job and his coworkers and was very much loved by them. Most of his friends knew him as “SLIM”. He loved his family and never missed a Thanksgiving or Christmas to be there to enjoy time together. James will be truly missed by all who knew him. While in Memorial Hospital, he excepted Christ as his personal Saviour.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his one son, Dominique Calvin Williams who he shared with Rhonda Williams of South Bend, IN, his father, Frank Williams Sr. of Peoria, IL, two sisters, Miss'y Bernice Hawkins of South Bend, IN, and Mary (Ralph) Nash of Bolingbrook, IL, one brother, Billy (Mertis) Williams Sr. of South Bend, IN, four grandchildren, Dayvion, Ciri, Mariah and Zyair Williams, “a special friend”, Miss Orvetta Rogers, a special niece Mrs. LaTana Watson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elnora Williams, sisters, Christine Millsap, Mattie Williams, Evangelist Earnestine Jones, brothers, Frank Williams Jr., Pastor Laneal Williams, Grandmother, Mrs. Bernice Goodloe and Grandfather Odie Goodloe.
