Jason Johnson Obituary

Jason Lamarr Johnson, affectionately known to many as ‘Jigg’, transitioned to eternal rest on Monday, May 20, 2024. He was 42 years old.  He was born to Lorraine Reed and Billy Johnson on July 4, 1981, in South Bend, Indiana. Jason’s academic journey included attending Coquillard Elementary School, LaSalle High School and Ancilla College.

Jason was a genuine person who always kept it real. He was a conversationalist who openly shared his views on various topics often talking about “taking over the world.”  He always felt blessed with great joy when spending time with his loved ones as he was truly dedicated to family and close friends.  He had a passion for music and bowling and loved his job as an employee of Steel Warehouse in South Bend. He loved his Ford F-150 that he kept clean and proudly sported wherever he went.

Jason leaves many fun and loving memories that will be cherished by his children, Khayree Johnson, Azariah Groves, Divine Johnson, Ja’Kaylah Johnson, Jayshawn Johnson, Jayda Washington, Jamere Johnson, Jordyn Reeves, SaRyah Johnson and  Malaysia Johnson; seven grandchildren, who he was very proud of; his loving mother, Lorraine Reed and father, Billy Johnson; maternal grandmother, Marie Smith;  four siblings Jamesha (DelShawn) Reed and Jeremy (Katrina) Johnson all of South Bend; Marshawn Moore and Catera Johnson both of Detroit, Michigan. He was the proud uncle to 15 nieces and nephews and shared a special bond with his nephew Jahsiyah Johnson. He also leaves a sister-in-Christ, Anashia Weston and his significant other, Alicia Boesel.

Jason also leaves behind maternal uncles, Lorenzo (Frances) Reed of Minnesota, Billy Reed of Maryland, Lawrence (Jenifer) Smith of Texas; paternal uncles, Andrew (Renee) Johnson, Timothy Johnson and Aaron Johnson all of Michigan; maternal aunts, Jesse Mae (Charles) Franklin of North Carolina, Denise Johnson of Tennessee and Penny and Mary Johnson of Michigan. He also leaves behind many cousins, close friends and coworkers.

Jason will be met with eternal greetings from maternal grandfather Marvin Smith; paternal grandmother, Juanita Johnson; cousin, Steven Reed and other family and friends.

Jason will be dearly missed by those who loved and knew him.
