Javan Rogers

Mr. Javan Rogers, of South Bend departed this life peacefully on Tuesday October 3, 2023, at Memorial Hospital. Javan William Rogers, born on December 25, 1932, in Prentiss, Mississippi, passed away on October 3, 2023. He was a long-time resident of South Bend, Indiana, where he was respected and well-loved. Javan, a proud veteran, was honorably discharged from the army and went on to work as a machinist for Raco, where he retired after 35 years of dedicated service. Javan was a devoted family man and was wed to Elvira Rogers on June 2, 1964. He was the cherished father of daughters; Luwana Porter of Waukesha, WI and Tracey Rogers of South Bend, IN; a son Todd Williams of Elkhart, IN; sisters, Lowrey Jean (Kenneth) Husband of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Martha Jean Pace of Hattiesburg, MS, Augustine (Earnest) Morris of Austin, TX, Hattie (Gus) Bronson of Jackson, MS; brother, Glen (Barbara) Rogers of Seattle, WA, and a special friend Tia Wilson. Javan was also a doting grandfather to 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren and leaves behind a legacy of love, strength and resilience. Javan was preceded in death by his parents, Javan and Alberta Rogers; his loving wife, Elvira Rogers; brothers, Audrey Rogers, Jewel Rogers, Orvis Rogers, and Paul Rogers; sisters-in-law, Gloria Rogers, Alice Rogers; and his brother-in-law, Melvin Pace.
