Jerry White Obituary

Jerry G. White, 67, of South Bend, Indiana departed this life on June 16, 2025.

Jerry was born on June 20, 1957, in South Bend, IN where he attended Colfax Elementary School, Central Middle School, and graduated from LaSalle High School in 1975.  He was a good athlete and as a youth he ran track, wrestled, played basketball & baseball.  During high school, Jerry was an outstanding wrestler and advanced to the Indiana state-regionals.  After completing high school, he chose to pursue his education at Indiana University Bloomington with a major in business.

In June of 1975, he and Valissa Williams (Walker) welcomed his only child, Terrance Walker-White, into this world.

Jerry was a hard worker and started his career at Conrail then moved to Allstate Insurance before joining New York Carpet World becoming one of their top salesmen in South Bend.  He subsequently relocated to Chicago, IL to further his career with New York Carpet World.  In 1991, he was appointed as the Regional Manager for Arby's in downtown Chicago before relocating back to South Bend, IN.  After returning to South Bend, he worked in sales at Service Merchandise and held various roles at businesses like the Charles Martin Center & South Bend Cubs.

He is survived by his son Terrance (Kristian) Walker-White, four grandchildren (Tiarra, Kyah, Terence, and Trace), and five great-grandchildren (Madysen, Londyn, Lauryn, Analyn, and Ares).

He is survived by 4 brothers and 1 sister: Bruce A. White of South Bend, Steve M. White of South Bend, David A. (Emily) White of Niles, Michigan, Larry Joe White-Norman of Detroit, Michigan, and Cheryle White-Lee of South Bend.

He is survived by 5 Uncles and 3 Aunts: Frank (Georgia) Murphy of South Bend, Verla (Jerri) Murphy of Eudora, Arkansas, Henry (Brenda) Murphy of Des Plains, Illinois, Lem (Katherine) Murphy of Dayton, Ohio and Dr. Richard Murphy of Saginaw, Michigan.  Willi B. Mullin of Little Rock, Arkansas, Olivia Smith of Saginaw, Michigan, Dorothy Jean Patterson of New Port, Arkansas and leaves behind a host of relatives and friends.

The family would also like to recognize special family members such as: Brenda Moore, Valerie (Sas) Harden, James (Mary) Harden Sr., Terry (Crystal) Lighthall Sr., and Joseph Matthews.

Preceding him in death were his father, Jeremiah White, mother, Millie Ann White; grandmother, Eliza Murphy, grandfather, David Scruggs, grandmother, Hazel Scruggs; Uncle Booker (Mary) T. Bell, uncle David Scruggs, Uncle Charles Smith Sr.; aunt Mable Harden, aunt Mildren Scruggs, and Aunt Elmarie Campbell.
