John Doaks Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to our beloved John H. Doaks, born on May 24, 1942, in Trenton, Tennessee, who took his heavenly journey on March 27, 2025. John was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who spent most of his life in South Bend, Indiana, with his dear wife, Myrtle Doaks. Together, they raised their two children, Celeste Doaks and Cedric.

John was a man of many talents and interests. His professional journey led him to work as a lab technician at O'Brien Paint Company and Niles Paint Company. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, garnering the respect and admiration of all who knew him. John had a love for bowling and golf, often participating in local bowling leagues and spending sunny afternoons on the golf course. However, his enduring passion was his faith, which saw him serve as a greeter and bus driver at New Life Fellowship Ministry under the leadership of Apostle Charles E. and Prophetess Betty Harris, Sr. His dedication to his faith never wavered, and he remained an active member. In light of his unwavering dedication, we are reminded of the verse from the book of Timothy, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

John is survived by his wife, Myrtle Doaks, his daughter Celeste (Karl Henzy) Doaks of Baltimore MD , son Cedric (Kimberly) Doaks, Sr of Indianapolis,IN , grandson Cedric Jr, great-granddaughters Tatum (Louisiana) and Talaia (Dallas, TX) and sisters Linda Waters of Indianapolis, IN, and Peggy Ross of Ypsilanti, MI. He is preceded in death by his parents, A.D. and Herma T. Doaks, brother Thomas Doaks, and grandson Cameron Doaks.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 10:00 a.m EST at New Life Fellowship Ministry, located at 2301 West Dubail Street, South Bend, Indiana. This will be followed by a celebration of John's life at 11:00 a.m EST at the same venue. John's life will be honored with full military honors at his burial at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend, Indiana.

John's life was a testament to his strength, faith, and love for his family. His spirit will forever be remembered and cherished. We encourage all who knew John to share their memories and upload photos to his memorial page, keeping his spirit alive in our hearts. His life was a blessing and his memory a treasure. He was loved beyond words, and will be missed beyond measure.
