John D Ulmer Jr affectionately known as John Jr passed away March 18, 2026. The baby of the family, John D Ulmer Jr aka Shorty born on February 26, 1979, to John D Ulmer Sr., and Atta Mae Ulmer (Binion) in South Bend, IN at Memorial Hospital.
John grew up on the west side of town attending Muessel, Clay Middle and Clay High school. John loved to be with his family chilling, talking, playing cards and drinking. He worked for B&B Maintenance at the time of his passing. He previously worked for SBCSC and various nursing homes over the years.
Family who left before John Jr were his parents John D Ulmer Sr and Atta Mae Ulmer, brother Dion Ulmer, sister Tracy Ulmer, son Dereion Jaylon Ulmer, Maternal aunts Minnie Lee Brandy, Corrine Alford, Alberta Hawkins, and Elizabeth Neal. Maternal Uncles George “Sonny” Binion and Roosevelt “Rosey” Binion and his mother is law Elizabelle Ann Miller.
Family members left to cherish his memory FOREVER is his paternal uncle William (Frank) Jones, paternal auntie Willie Mae Brown both of South Bend, big sister Veronica Jones (AJ) of Mishawaka, IN, maternal auntie Nettie Belton of Indianapolis, IN, his five children Tatyana, JaQwan, Jashuana, Teriah and Trevian Ulmer all of South Bend, IN. His nieces and nephews whom he raised like his own Shyeesha Griley (Sidney) Indianapolis, IN, Robert Dillard, Eddy Dillard, Tashawn Johnson, Latavia Johnson, Tavaris Johnson, Jakeem Stewart and Mariah Turner all of South Bend, IN. Three grandkids Brian, Mae’Lanni and ChoZen Ulmer of South Bend, IN. 12 great nieces and nephews. His goddaughter Aalaysiah Burton, favorite cousin to argue with Jakixyra Frazier, lifelong friends Eric, Gerald, Danny, Courtney and his “sis” from another missus Yoyo. The mother of his six children and ex-wife Racheal. Although they were no longer together, the love for their children and grandchildren kept them in constant company. John leaves behind a village of friends and family who loved him so much.
John spent his free time with his family and chauffeuring his passenger princesses wherever they needed to go and be. They were his besties whether he agreed or not lol. He was good dad, friend, uncle, brother and friend who would give anyone a ride. John Jr will be missed dearly (Already). John Jr was an avid music enthusiast who passed his love down to his children.
