Joseph Williams Obituary

We gather today to honor the life and legacy of Joseph Michael Williams (Broadway Joe), born on April 17, 1955, in Elkhart, Indiana to George and Marie (Hall) Williams. Joseph (often known as Joe Micheal to his family) was the youngest out of all his siblings but also led like the "big/little brother. 

Joe Michael was baptized & became a member of Canaan Baptist church at a young age. As a young child Joe Micheal enjoyed spending time with his father & enjoyed learning new things. He loved shooting pool, bowling, and being competitive in any way. Throughout his adolescent years Joe Micheal grew to always be the best at everything & strived to be the very best & was. He enjoyed playing sports, but basketball was ultimately one of his favorite things to do. Joseph graduated from Elkhart Memorial High School in 1973. Where he was an accomplished basketball star, and rightfully in his honor a dance was named " The Joseph Micheal Williams standing memorial".  Shortly after graduating from High School, he went on to play semiprofessional basketball in the state of Michigan. Joseph loved to dress up in his dapper tailored suits and hop in the slickest (cars) known to man. you'll often see him riding clean in his Rolls Royce or fleek of Cadillacs. Always cleaning and wiping down his rides (cars). In his later years he became a dedicated car salesman buying selling & trading cars. 

Joseph Micheal Williams departed this life April 24, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving children. which he adored. Joseph loved being a father & often told stories about his children & grandchildren who he loved spending time with. 

 He was a loving father to his sons Joseph Michael Jr. & Joel Micheal Williams both of South Bend, IN & daughters Daniela Hillard of Dallas, Texas, Shigeko Mcckarey of Mobile, Alabama, Jomisha (Bruce), and Jokeyia Williams of South Bend, IN and Mia Barhams of Michigan. & a bonus daughter, Tara Wardlow that he loved and cherished as his own. He also left behind his siblings Barbara Kemp & Celia Danner & a host of nieces and nephews that loved and adored him including his favorite nephew Shawn Kemp and nieces Beverly and Tamesha Holiday. Joseph leaves behind a legacy of entrepreneurship, creativity, and relentless dedication that will continue to inspire those who knew him. 

 As Maya Angelou once said, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel. " Joseph, made a mark on many lives and his legacy will continue to live on. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents George & Marie Williams, his brothers George Jr, and Jesse (Ora Lee) Williams. Sisters, Cora, Rosalie, Rosene, and Lorene. Also, his favorite niece Brenda Lee. Joseph Micheal Williams (Broadway Joe) a made man that stood on his word. His love and dedication for his family & friends will forever be unmatched and his legacy will continue to live on. 

A one of kind man, that will truly be missed my many … the family of Joseph Micheal Williams will always cherish him and always remember what he stood for "A man is nothing if he doesn't take care of his family & stand on his word “. We love u daddy ….
