It is with a sense of hope and celebration of a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Katrina Renee Chester-Vaughn, who was born on May 12, 1970, in South Bend, IN, and left us on October 12, 2025. Katrina, a loving and supportive wife, mother, sister, and friend, will be remembered for her generous spirit and her funny, vibrant personality that brightened every room she entered. She was a woman of faith, and we are comforted by the words of the Gospel of John, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die."
Katrina was the embodiment of a cheerful giver. She dedicated her life to her family and her home, always ensuring that her loved ones felt loved and cared for. She had a special fondness for her dog, Queen, who was almost as much a part of the family as her children and grandchildren. Katrina's hobbies, which included cooking, doing hair, and visiting the casino, brought her joy and were often occasions for her to gather with those she loved. For her, the most important thing in life was family.
Katrina is survived by her husband, Willie Vaughn Jr, and their loving children: Erica Oliver, Willie Vaughn 3, Tyshawn Chester and Lanie Chester. She also leaves behind her father, Theodore Chester, and her siblings: Fikisha Chester, Aisha (Mark) Chester, Timothy (Angie) Chester, Ludale Chester, Theodore Jr, and Michael Chester. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rodia Snyder, her brother, Willie Chapman, her sister, Elouise Townsend, her grandmother, Dorthy Lee Townsend, her grandfather John Townsend, and her aunt, Dorthy Mae Townsend.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, from 11 A.M until 12 Noon at Alford's Mortuary. Services will follow. We invite you to share your memories of Katrina and upload photos to her memorial page. As we remember her funny, loving, supportive, and generous spirit, may we also honor her legacy by living our lives with the same warmth and generosity she displayed every day.
