Kelvin Michael Dickens, 69 of South Bend, IN transitioned from labor to rest on March 9. 2026 at
St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka Indiana. Kelvin Michael Dickens was born June 26,
1956, in South Bend, Indiana to Sam and Annie Dickens.
Both loving parents preceded him in death, along with his brother Derrick and special cousin
(brother)Kerry Harris.
Kelvin leaves to cherish in his loving memory daughter Shavann (Susie) son Shawann and their loving
mother Theresa Johnson, three sisters Rebecca (Becky), Rosalind (Ros) and Sandra four brothers Gregory (Greg), Anthony (Tone), Sam Jr (June) and Paul (Sharon) Dickens. Five grandchildren, William, T'Ayre, Bri'Shaunn, Bry'Sonn, Shawann Jr., Eight great-grandchildren Kawon, Kamya, Kadalynn (Kada), Reagan, Cah'Mor, Caius (Lil Red), Carter, and Chase and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Kelvin was a member of First A.M.E Zion Church where he was baptized and served on the usher board. Kelvin attended McKinley Elementary School and Jefferson Middle School where he was champion on the wrestling team. Kelvin had a lively spirit and presence and was well known and loved by many. Kelvin loved to dance
and enjoyed bringing laughter and good energy wherever he went. Affectionately known as "KD," and
also called Kat Daddy, he had a personality that made people feel welcomed and appreciated. He had a natural way of connecting with people and leaving a lasting impression wherever he went. More importantly, Kelvin had a deep love and affection for his family, and he cherished the time he spent with them. His "Kat Daddy" dance moves were something many will always remember.
Though he is no longer here with us, the memories, laughter, and love he shared will remain with us always. The music may fade, but the rhythm of his life and the joy will echo in our hearts forever.
