Laverne Boyd, 68, of LaPorte Avenue, in South Bend, Indiana, passed away on January 18, 2021. Laverne was born to Silas and Lucille Virginia Boyd, on December 25, 1952, in South Bend, Indiana, who both preceded her in death along with two sisters, Barbara and Brenda Boyd, and a brother, Silas Boyd Jr.
Laverne attended Benjamin Franklin Elementary School and Adams High School. After high school, she trained as a nurse’s assistant and worked at Cardinal Nursing, Ridgedale Nursing, and St. Paul Nursing facilities.
She was diligent in her responsibilities. She loved Old School Music, family gatherings, and socializing with friends. She treated all with common decency but if she didn’t like you or favor you - you would know that too.
She supported family members whenever she could and never said no. You knew she cared about you because her door was always open and she was a shoulder to cry on.
Survivors left to cherish her memory include two daughters: Tonya Newbill Boyd of South Bend, Indiana, and Renee (Chakiena) Lacy of Atlanta, Georgia; her son, Robert Boyd; 17 grandchildren; her sister, Ruby Baker; and brother, Willie Boyd; her loyal friend and companion, Maurice Brown, all of South Bend, Indiana; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
